Former Celtic player and manager Neil Lennon looks set to return to management with Rapid Bucharest. The Romanian outfit have been in talks with Lennon over a deal and will host him for this weekend’s game against Steaua Bucharest at the Rapid-Giulesti Stadium.

According to The Sun, the Celtic icon will be confirmed next week as returning to the dugout with the Romanian side barring any late hiccups.

With impressive spells at Celtic as a player and a manger, the Irishman is synonymous with success at the club. Lennon was welcomed warmly onto the stage at the club’s POTY celebrations last weekend but has made no secret that he wants to get back into the game.

The 52-year-old has shown that he’s willing to take a new challenge and a move to Bucharest could be the latest move in a largely successful managerial career. Lennon has stated his eagerness to return to coaching with an interview for Ireland, who are yet to make an appointment, and admitting an interest in the Aberdeen job. Hibs may fancy poaching their former boss after Nick Montgomery was sacked, although they could be running out of time.

Lennon has been out of work since leaving Omonia Nicosia in late 2022 in a surprising move. The Irishman had led the Cypriot side to a Cup victory before making it to the Europa League Group Stages.
