Penguins Give Updates on Injured Prospects
USA TODAY Sports

When the Pittsburgh Penguins released their roster for the upcoming Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, there were three names listed as injured.

Defensemen Owen Pickering and Nolan Callins and forward Raivis Ansons were all dubbed injured by the Penguins.

With the challenge coming up this weekend, the prospects were in Pittsburgh for a team practice before hitting the road.

Following the skate, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins head coach J.D. Forrest gave an updates regarding the injured prospects.

According to Forrest, Pickering is out with an undisclosed injury but should be ready for the start of training camp, Collins is rehabbing from a wrist surgery, and Ansons is recovering from an undisclosed injury he suffered last season.

Despite the injuries, all three will likely be invited to the Penguins training camp set to kick off on September 21.

Preseason games start the following Sunday with split squad games against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Penguins prospects open up the annual challenge against the Boston Bruins tomorrow and play three games in four days.
