Saints starter defends offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr.
USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints coaching staff has received plenty of backlash between last season and the start of this campaign.

Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. has been at the center of the scrutiny often. The offense doesn't look smooth, and their playmakers are not getting the ball on a consistent basis.

One Saints starter doesn't think that the media needs to keep questioning the Saints OC, though. Tight end Juwan Johnson showed a bit of support for his coach on Twitter on Tuesday.

This statement by Johnson backs up comments from Michael Thomas to start the week.

Thomas blamed the players, not coaches, for the team's struggles. They clearly think that the inconsistency is on the guys on the field, rather than the sidelines. At least, that's what they are telling the media right now.

Johnson is currently dealing with an injury that has kept him off the field over the last couple of weeks for New Orleans. Hopefully, he can return soon and add an impact to help out the Saints OC.

Regardless, it's intriguing to see how the coaches and players are both realizing the heat being put on the coaching staff after difficult games.
