Braves old friend continues MLB journey with Cubs

New York designated Julio Teheran for assignment after a start against his former team in which he struggled. He only got through 2.2 innings while nearly throwing 70 pitches to the tune of four earned runs by way of six hits and two walks.

Teheran and the Braves’ rival agreed to a deal last week for one year, $2.5 million, but it was non-guaranteed, so the Mets are only on the hook for a fraction of that price.

Struggling against this Braves lineup shouldn’t warrant a demotion, especially for a club like New York that needs all the help it can get. Now, he’ll get the same opportunity in Chicago.

Like damn near every club in baseball, the Cubs are dealing with injuries within their rotation. Justin Steele is still on the injured list, and he’s not close to returning. Teheran should get some burn.

His connection to Craig Counsell will surely benefit him in his new threads. Teheran owned a respectable 4.40 ERA across 71.2 innings with the Brew Crew last year and will once again suit up for Counsell.
