Dalton Knecht Wins SEC Player of the Year

Tennessee Volunteers guard Dalton Knecht has had a storybook season. The first-year Volunteer earned SEC Player of the Year honors on Monday ahead of the SEC Tournament.

Tennessee guard Dalton Knecht has been the No. 1 player in the Southeastern Conference since the start of play a few months ago. The first-year Power-5 player finished the regular season averaging 21.4 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. He shot 47% from the field and 40% from the three-point line on six attempts per game.

Knecht is a candidate for the Naismith Player of the Year Award, given annually to the top college basketball player. The Vols won the SEC regular season crown and are the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament in a loaded group. While the Vols found success last season and achieved new program highs, Knecht is the best player the program has seen in a long time.

He's consistently set the tone for a group that needed a go-to scorer in big moments. Knecht has been everything that Tennessee has wanted and more, and he's now got some hardware to bring home for his efforts.
